Mustazzoli are typical sweets of Salento , Calabria and Sicily , based on cooked wine, semolina and other flavors. Sometimes they are covered with a light glaze . It is among the traditional Sicilian agri-food products recognized by the Ministry of Agricultural Resources. The term derives from the Latin language mustum (the must). Mustazzoli are also known as: mustaccioli, zozzi (due to the chocolate glaze on the surface), mostaccioli, mustazzueli, bisquetti, pisquetti, mustazzòli 'nnasparati, scagliòzzi, scàiezzuli, castagnette.
